Welcome, Parents & Carers

Coding that meets your child where they are.

DZ Sensory Coding offers warm, 1:1 online Scratch classes designed especially for neurodiverse learners ages 8 and up. Our patient, specialist support workers understand autism, ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences — so every session is calm, predictable, and built around your child’s strengths. Visual, drag-and-drop coding makes it easy to focus and succeed without reading walls of text. Your child builds real games they’re proud of, week by week. Try us with a free, no-pressure trial lesson, and see the confidence click.

Taught live, 1:1, by trained NDIS support workers — not pre-recorded videos.

Why Parents Choose Us

Why Choose Our Coding Classes

Built for NDIS families, not a general coding camp.

True 1:1 Support

Every lesson is private, with a dedicated support worker matched to your child’s needs and pace.

NDIS-Aligned & Plan-Friendly

Invoiced under Capacity Building. We support Self, Plan and Agency managed participants.

Calm, Sensory-Friendly Sessions

Low-pressure, predictable lessons. Breaks, fidgets, camera-off — always okay.

Zero Coding Experience Needed

We start from the very beginning. If your child can use a mouse, they can code.

Your Child’s Pace, Always

We follow their interests and energy. Small wins every lesson, no rushing.

Real Games They Can Share

Kids build playable games and stories they’re proud to show family and friends.

Progress Notes for NDIS Plans

Clear session notes and term reports to support plan reviews and goals.

Australia-Wide, From Home

No travel, no crowds. Learn comfortably from home, anywhere in Australia.

How Visual Coding Helps Neurodiverse Kids (Ages 8+)

Scratch’s drag-and-drop blocks remove reading barriers and reward experimentation — perfect for visual thinkers.

Visual Thinking

Picture-First Learning

Colour-coded blocks make logic visual and concrete — ideal for kids who think in images, not paragraphs.

Problem Solving

Small Wins, Big Growth

We break challenges into tiny, achievable steps so your child feels capable and keeps going.

Calm Focus

Less Overload, More Flow

Online, 1:1, and quiet. No busy classrooms — just a familiar environment that supports genuine focus.

Confidence

“I made this work!”

Kids create games that actually run. That instant feedback builds real, lasting self-belief.

Creative Freedom

Create Without Social Pressure

Express ideas through code and characters in a safe, low-demand space — no group work required.

Communication

Gentle Turn-Taking

Coding naturally supports back-and-forth, choice-making, and calm communication at your child’s pace.

Predictability

Routine Kids Can Rely On

Clear lesson flow, visual schedules, and consistent mentors — perfect for routine-loving kids who thrive on predictability.

The Curriculum

What Will Kids Learn?

Structured, goal-aligned learning in Scratch — always personalised to your child’s NDIS goals and interests.

  • Basic Scratch navigation — moving sprites, stage layout, saving projects
  • Events, loops, motion & sounds — the core building blocks of any game
  • Building simple games — catchers, clickers, racing and platform starters
  • Creating interactive stories — scenes, backdrops and animations
  • Character dialogue for speech practice — great for communication goals
  • Debugging & problem-solving — finding and fixing bugs with support
  • Creativity & confidence building — every child ships a finished project

Optional Advanced Pathways

For kids who love a challenge: maze games, custom animations, and choose-your-own-adventure stories — introduced only when they’re ready.

Device Recommendation — Important

A computer or laptop with a keyboard and mouse is strongly recommended. Scratch is limited on tablets and can be frustrating for beginners — drag-and-drop is much easier with a mouse, and we can share screens smoothly on a desktop. A Chromebook works great too.

Parent FAQs

Questions NDIS parents ask us

Transparent, plain-English answers — just like our lessons.

Is this NDIS-funded? +

Yes. Our 1:1 coding sessions are invoiced under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living (15_038_0117_1_3), supporting goals in problem-solving, communication, confidence and digital skills. We accept Self, Plan and Agency managed participants Australia-wide.

Do you provide reports for NDIS plans? +

Yes. You’ll get brief session notes after each class and a clear term progress report you can use for plan reviews. We align outcomes to your child’s NDIS goals.

What ages is this suitable for? +

Our Scratch program is designed for neurodiverse learners aged 8 to 18. We adapt the pace, visuals, and complexity to suit your child’s developmental stage, not just their age.

What if my child has limited speech / is non-speaking? +

Absolutely welcome. We’re experienced with AAC users and non-speaking students. Your child can type, point, use visuals, or communicate in the way that works best for them. Communication is never a barrier to coding.

What if my child has anxiety or needs breaks? +

That’s completely okay, and very common. Sessions are low-demand, predictable, and break-friendly. Camera off is fine. Our support workers are trained in co-regulation and will follow your child’s cues. We’d rather a calm 25 minutes than a stressed 45.

How long are the sessions? +

Standard sessions are 45 minutes, 1:1 online, weekly. We can shorten to 30 minutes for younger learners or kids building stamina. After-school and Saturday morning times are available across all Australian time zones.

Do you offer a free trial? +

Yes — your first 30-minute trial lesson is free, with no obligation. We’ll meet your child, check their setup, build a tiny game together, and make sure it’s a good fit before anything is booked in.

What equipment is needed? +

A computer or laptop with a keyboard, mouse, internet, and a microphone (camera optional). Scratch is free and runs in the browser — no installs. Tablets are not recommended for beginners, as the drag-and-drop is frustrating without a mouse.
